It’s easy to assume that it’s just your late teens and early twenties that are all about experimenting with your style. However later down the line, when you reach your forth and fifth decade in life, it’s excellent time to start switching things up again and getting creative with your look. It’s a time when you’ve had your children and they’ve all grown up, and you have chance to find yourself and develop your own identity again. As well as taking up new hobbies and exploring new interests, you get to reinvent yourself and have a lot of fun in the process. Here are some of the ways you can feel fabulous in your forties, fifties and beyond.
Create a skincare regime that works
Each decade of life presents us with different skin issues, and so it’s important to create a routine that works for both your age and your individual skin needs. You could go to a salon or spa for a facial and have them give you some more information on your skin type and recommend products. Otherwise, do your research online and read reviews to try things that are most likely to work for you. There’s so much information out there from articles to Youtube videos and more.
Switch up your makeup
Many of us get into a rut with our makeup, we find something that works and continue using those products and techniques over and over. However, a makeup look that suited you to a tee in your twenties and thirties probably won’t as you reach forty and fifty. Experiment, change things up and find a new look that flatters you and makes you feel beautiful every day. A luminescent foundation will give you a ‘lit from within’ glow, with a swipe of light blush on the cheeks to add a youthful rosy glow. Soft neutral eyeshadow will give definition to the eyes, avoid harsh lines and black liner- a soft, blended brown is likely to suit you much better. Again you could experiment yourself, or have your makeup done by a professional and get them to talk you through the products and techniques they’re using.
Buy new clothes
The right clothes will make you feel a million dollars, they’ll showcase your style and flatter your body. Just because you’re no longer in your twenties and thirties doesn’t mean you can’t have fun, with the right fit and style of clothes and a pop of colour you’ll look fun and modern- no frumpy grandma clothes in site! A cute accessory like a hat or a statement bag helps you bring some personality to your outfits. Alternatively you could go with a piece of jewellery, you can find out more about different types and styles online. If you’re feeling less than confident about your shape or size, how about starting up a new exercise regime and healthy eating plan? Not only will you benefit your body but it can give you a boost of confidence too when all of your clothes start fitting you better.
Your forties and fifties are a fun time to find yourself again, so experiment and switch things up!
